This is Fire Prevention Week 2024 and the theme is “Smoke Alarms, Make Them Work For You.”
This is Fire Prevention Week 2024. Todd Flynn is the Director of Emergency and Protective Services with the city of Corner Brook. He says the week evolved form the Chicago Fire in the late 1800’s. Flynn says the theme is “Smoke Alarms, Make Them Work For You.” He says there are still homes in the city without these alarms and there are codes that regulate how many alarms required in a home and where they should be placed. Flynn says prior to 2000, it wasn’t a requirement. There will be an open house at the Corner Brook Fire Department tomorrow from 12:30-4:30. Sparky will be there, there will be a BBQ and various equipment displays and more.
