The NL Young Farmers Mentorship Program is sowing the seeds of success for new farmers. It matches experienced mentors with mentees aged 18-40 who are interested in farming and planning to start their own farm business. Mentorship hours average about five hours each week. Lisa Davis is the program coordinator and says they do different things each year, like information seminars, training workshops, and a summit which is coming up in February. Davis says both the mentors and the mentees get a lot out of the program. The program is through the NL Federation of Agriculture and participants must be members. So far there are over 300 members and the Mentorship Program is free. More information can found at nlyoungfarmers.ca.
