There are some changes coming concerning paying for parking spots at city hall and the new recreation centre. At Monday night’s public meeting, council discussed a new HotSpot Parking App that will make it easier to park. Councillor Charles Pender says this new App has been approved and will be in effect by the middle of next month. Its added functionality includes store owner being able to validate a customer’s parking, enforcement features, etc. Work is underway to implement, including installation of street signs and meter head labeling. Communications are going out to City residents via social media as well. The official transfer date is set for July 15th, 2024 Pender says the HotSpot platform will be used for parking at the new Recreation Centre parking lot as well. Wiper leaflets will be placed on vehicles of the continued Honk users of the mobile parking app change.
