The GST and HST tax break will start December 14th and end February 15th.

MP Gudie Hutchings is commending her government’s announcement of tax breaks on essentials. The GST and HST tax break will start December 14th and end February 15th. It includes prepared foods, snacks, beer and wine, children’s clothing and toys, books, and Christmas trees among more. Hutchings says she’s hearing from small businesses who think this is a great idea and  business owners are saying this will help them in the slower months of January and February. A one time $250 cheque is available for those who filed their income tax last year and made less than $150,000. Hutchings says this is a way to say “thank you” in challenging times. She says people in this category may not have access to dental and health care benefits but everyone can avail of the tax break. Hutchings says the NDP is supporting this tax break.
