Like many 12 year olds. Kyle George had dreams of one day skating in the NHL but instead, started referring. Now, nearly 15 years later, he’s been selected to attend the NHL Exposure Combine for hockey officials taking place in Buffalo this August. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, George says it all started out of a need for referees, especially on the west coast.
George also refereed at the Atlantic Challenge Cup in Moncton and at the age of 17, he started as a linesman in senior hockey. He is excited about the opportunity coming in Buffalo and has a big summer of training ahead. George says his time blowing the whistle in senior hockey on the west coast was a step stone for him. He was among thousands of applicants, whittled down to between 50-100 to attend.
