Industry Minister Andrew Parsons says the cruise ship industry is massive and it’s being led in NL by the Corner Brook Port Corporation. Last week, his department as well as Tourism, Recreation and Culture announced a joint investment of $150,000 from the Regional Development Fund for Cruise Newfoundland and Labrador (Cruise NL). Parsons says “These assets make Newfoundland and Labrador well-suited to the expedition segment of the cruise industry and presents a promising future for ports and communities around the province. In Corner Brook last week, the federal government announced slightly more than $473K for Cruise NL as well. Parsons says people want to come here and we have to build the capacity to be ready for growth in the cruise ship industry. He says NL is becoming an international tourist destination.
