BayFM's new Corner Brook transmitter site

Industry Canada representatives will be in Corner Brook tomorrow (January 9) to carry out an inspection of the new transmitter site on Mayfair Avenue.

Listeners may notice some minor disruptions in BayFM’s signal as inspections are being carried out on our new transmitter.

The CRTC gave final approval to Bay of Islands Radio Inc. for their proposal to construct a full-power station from the existing low-power station.  Industry Canada representatives will be in Corner Brook tomorrow (January 9) to carry out an inspection of the new site on Mayfair Avenue.

Board chair Kody Gardner says these tests are primarily to ensure no interference with navigational systems. He says once the station is found to be “in spec” it will mean a boosted signal for Corner Brook, the Bay of Islands and the Humber Valley.  BayFM’s signal strength will be boosted from the current 50 watts to 2,760 watts.
