3000 Ukrainians living in NL and 2200 have found housing and employment.
There is a little over a week left for proponents to submit settlement services proposals to the Department of Immigration. All registered community-based organizations, including municipalities and cultural groups are eligible to submit and the deadline is August 11th. Minister Gerry Byrne says they want to see housing ideas to help newcomers. Byrne says there’s been a lot of discussion about housing and newcomers. He says there are 3000 Ukrainians in our province and 2200 have found housing, employment and are integrating within society. There is also money available for homeowners who are interested in hosting a Ukrainian family. More information can be found at gov.nl.ca.
