Coady says she’s thankful for the work Freeland did but the new finance minister is no stranger to NL. Leblanc is from New Brunswick and he is very supportive.
Finance Minister Siobhan Coady is pleased to hear Dominic Leblanc will be the new Federal Finance Minister. This after Chrstia Freeland announced she is stepping down from cabinet. Coady says she’s thankful for the work Freeland did but the new finance minister is no stranger to NL. Leblanc is from New Brunswick and he is very supportive. Coady says the threat of a 25 percent tariff on Canadian goods is very concerning for people. She says a united front approach means a stronger voice. Border security is a big issue and this is why a tariff could be implemented. Coady says she’s hopeful Canada can continue to work with the United States on issues that are important to us all.
Meanwhile, some reports from Ottawa suggest the Prime Minister will announce a cabinet shuffle today. Many are concerned about who will assume the public safety role previously held by LeBlanc. This as Canada prepares for the impact of incoming US president Trump.
