The two occupants were not wearing seat belts or helmets.

A female passenger was taken to hospital in Gander after an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash near Michael’s Harbour on Monday (January 20th). Shortly after 4:00 p.m. RCMP received the report of a crash involving a side-by-side ATV.  The ATV, which was carrying two occupants, flipped over on its side while making a turn on the Michael’s Harbour Access Road.  The two occupants were not wearing seat belts or helmets.  The female passenger is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  The ATV was uninsured. The investigation is continuing with charges pending.

RCMP NL reminds off-road vehicle users of the legal requirements and importance of wearing all available safety equipment.  Helmets are to be worn on all ATVs.  In addition to a helmet, occupants of side by side ATVS must also wear a seat belt, where one is available.
