Government is looking for public input on what should be included when amending the decades-old Status of Women Advisory Council Act with new legislation that is inclusive of gender-diverse people. This will mark the first review of the 1980 legislation. In 2021, a restructuring of the then-named Office for the Status of Women took place and became the Office of Women and Gender Equality.  By replacing the existing Act, it will be modernized to reflect gender diversity. The first phase of consultations will be conducted online and  is available at engageNL.ca. Deadline for questionnaires and written submissions is February 23rd.
