Up to last year, the Islaview Foundation has raised $700K.
Tomorrow marks the tenth year that the town of Deer Lake changes its name to Islaview in memory of a tiny superhero, named Isla Short. Her uncle Dan Bursey joined Bayfm’s Lenny Benoit this morning to talk about the work of the Islaview Foundation, last year marking $700K raised to help families in crisis with a child in treatment for a medical illness.

Marina Redmond Centre in Corner Brook turns one year old with a free public event on Sunday
On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, Mayor Linda Chaisson says this includes free swims from 11 a.m. to 1p.m., and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m, the gym is open free from 10 a.m until 5 p.m., and for one day only half price membership.
Nominations are open until June 12th for the Council of the Federation Literacy Award
The award is presented each year to recognize outstanding achievement, innovative practice, and excellence in literacy.

The president of the Corner Brook Baseball Association, Jason Mosher, says their program is run based on these student grants and they have been getting enough for 7 for as long as he can remember.
