Dave McHugh, beloved Corner Brook musician, passes away

    Dave McHugh has been a staple in the local music community for decades. His music was also featured regularly on BayFM.

    The community is mourning the loss of Dave McHugh, who was a prominent and well-loved figure in the local entertainment scene for decades. McHugh passed away Friday in Corner Brook.

    Tributes to McHugh have been pouring into social media since the news broke late Friday evening.

    McHugh is originally from Curling and has been part of the local music scene dating back to the 1980s, during which time he was part of the popular Corner Brook cover band Illusion. He also owned and operated a bar, McHugh's, on Broadway for a number of years.

    BayFM will honour the life of Dave McHugh this Sunday on Scoffs & Scuffs from 12-3 p.m. Listeners are invited to tune in and share their memories by call or text to (709) 632-5555.

    Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

    The station sends sincere condolences to Dave's family during this difficult time.
