The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Emergency crews are battling a major fire at the Wild Cove Transfer Station on the North Shore of the Bay of Islands.

The fire started late Thursday evening with large flames visible from Corner Brook. The cause of the blaze nor the containment is known at this time.

Fire trucks were seen transporting water to the scene from a hydrant near the Ballam Bridge, reportedly due to a lack of hydrants in the vicinity of the landfill.

BayFM will have more details as they become available. The fire is visible from the BayFM Sky Cam accessible here.
