Corner Brook city hall gave an update on capital projects during last night’s regular council meeting. Councillor Charles Pender says the Corner Brook Recreation Centre is about 80 percent complete with paint and plastering underway while some structural work and masonry continues. Pender says work on the Mt. Bernard Reconstruction Project is about 67 percent complete. He says work in the area will wrap up at Randolph Street this year and start again next spring. Meanwhile, work on phase one of the Great Trail Enhancement started in May in Curling. This included installation of a pedestrian bridge and work should be complete by the end of next month. Pender says some sections near Leggo’s Lane are closed to walkers until next month. O’Connell Drive pedestrian crosswalk underground work is complete and new signals will be installed by the end of October.
