residents needing sand bags or help can call 637-1666
The city of Corner Brook is on standby should residents need help with flooding issues today. Rain at times heavy is expected to last until Thursday evening. A total rainfall of 60 to 90 mm is expected with higher amounts possible. Areas affected include the south and west coasts, the Great Northern Peninsula, Deer Lake - Humber Valley, and Green Bay - White Bay. Corner Brook Mayor Jim Parsons says crews were busy yesterday and will be busy today. Be sure storm drains and gutters are cleared of debris. Heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and pooling of water. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
