Guy Fawkes night, also known as bonfire night, has been a tradition in many parts of Newfoundland and Labrador for many years. Although it may have changed somewhat throughout the years, it still has a sense of community for those who take part. There will be a community bonfire in Corner Brook this evening, which gets underway 5:30 at the Appalachian Chalets & RV on Lundrigan Drive. Alan Kendall says they’ve been hosting this event for the past number of years in partnership with the Corner Brook Fire Department Toy Drive. He says every year is different but they usually raise thousands of dollars and toys as well. Tonight's community bonfire will be from 5:30 until 8 p.m.
