This year, they’ve added Balsam Fir, Black Spruce, White Spruce, and even a few Red Maple, White Pine, Yellow Birch, and Balsam Poplar to the park's landscape.

The 2024 tree planting season at Gros Morne National Park has wrapped up. Nearly 300,000 native trees have been carefully planted across 82.5 hectares. This year, they’ve added Balsam Fir, Black Spruce, White Spruce, and even a few Red Maple, White Pine, Yellow Birch, and Balsam Poplar to the park's landscape. This ecological restoration work is focused on areas where forest cover was lost due to severe over-browsing by moose. Thanks to careful management, the moose population in the park is now at an ecologically sustainable level, allowing these new trees to flourish.
