Mayor Jim Parsons says the city received funding for an accessibility study which engaged a lot of the community. The remainder of the funding will go towards implementation.
A recent Accessible Transit study by Dillon Consulting has identified capacity challenges with the city of Corner Brook’s transit system. The recommendation was the need for larger capacity buses. At this week’s public meeting, council discussed agreements that include Buckle's Bussing adding two new buses, which will nearly double the current fleet's capacity. Mayor Jim Parsons says the city received funding for an accessibility study which engaged a lot of the community. The remainder of the funding will go towards implementation. Parsons says while there isn’t a solution to fix issues with accessible bussing they are working to make it better. He says the focus is on a solution for those with mobility needs or other accessibility requirements to get wherever they want to go like everyone else.
