The city of Corner Brook has come up with $90,000 to conduct a study of the Riverside Drive area, the same area where there was a landslide on April 1st. Two weeks later, geotechnical engineers assessed the stability of the area but it was still weeks before Riverside Drive would reopen to all traffic. Mayor Jim Parsons says now, there is a need to conduct a study of the area's hydrological conditions, as well as a risk assessment to address the potential hazards of future landslides. The money has been reallocated from the 2024 Capital out of Revenue (COOR) budget, which was intended for an Industrial Park Study, but most of the costs there have been covered.
