Assistant Director of Engineering Andrew Miller says they tried to do it in a shorter time frame this year with four weeks instead of five, but they are a few days behind schedule.

Bulk household garbage collection in Corner Brook was due to be completed this Friday but that will stretch into next week. It started May4th and the city was separated into four sections. 1,383 appointments were made for curbside pickup. At this week’s public meeting, Assistant Director of Engineering Andrew Miller spoke about how this is the second year that appointments had to be made and with any change there comes a challenge. Miller says they tried to do it in a shorter time frame this year with four weeks instead of five, but they are a few days behind schedule.

On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, Mayor Linda Chaisson says it’s going slower than they thought it would due to the fact there is a lot of garbage. She says townsite is next. The Mayor says residents dropped off over 300 tonnes of garbage at Wildcove during the week leading up to May11th.
