BOIR spoke with FFAW rep Johnny Gilbert this evening. Protestors remained silent.
There is a protest at Allen’s Fisheries in Benoit’s Cove. About 75 people showed up in vehicles and blocked access to the plant. Fish plant workers are being allowed through. Johnny Gilbert is the FFAW rep for the Bay of Islands. He’s been a fisherman for decades and says they are there to protest the fact the Barry owned plant is not buying lobsters and won’t sell bait to fishermen.
