15 BOISAR members responded to the call and, after collecting 4x4 SAR trucks, Argo, and snowmobiles, set up a staging area near the beginning of the forest access road.
A call to help a stranded motorist was the kick start to Emergency Preparedness Week for members of the Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue team. Monday night around 8:20, the RNC called BOISAR to an area about 14kms in on Lady Slipper Forest Access Road, just west of Corner Brook.
15 BOISAR members responded to the call and, after collecting 4x4 SAR trucks, Argo, and snowmobiles, set up a staging area near the beginning of the forest access road.
The stranded subjects were quickly located and, despite being there for several hours, and trying numerous times to get their vehicle unstuck from the mud and snow, were found to be in good health. By 11 p.m., members had equipment back and stored for the next time.
