Shawn Street says bringing a belt and spark plugs is a safe move. He says it’s nice to get the extra snow this week but there are still dangerous spots with stumps and small trees.

Corner Brook and the west coast received quite a bit of snow yesterday and that continues today, but it may still be too early to expect perfectly groomed snowmobile trails. Shawn Street is the coordinator with Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue. He says members, police and snowmobile groups met Wednesday night at Rugged Edge to talk about the winter season. Street says being prepared is the most important message. He says bringing a belt and spark plugs is a safe move. Street says it’s nice to get the extra snow this week but there are still dangerous spots with stumps and small trees. He says if you’re heading into woods for a run, always leave a trip plan with loved ones or friends and a time of return.
