Joyce says “this is very good news for all the people waiting to have surgery completed to enjoy a better quality of life.“

Bay of Islands MHA Eddie Joyce says  the wait list for cataract surgery for western Newfoundland has been eliminated. When a patient receives his/her consult, the surgery will be within 30 days, not the one and a half to two years wait time. Joyce  says Dr. Justin French and his team of Ophthalmologists and staff, the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association, and the Department of Health and Community Services have approved the additional quota within the 5 year contract and signed off on the agreement. Joyce says “this is very good news for all the people waiting to have surgery completed to enjoy a better quality of life.“ He says this will increase times now for surgeries like hips, knee joints, etc. at Corner Brook. Joyce says  there has been a major concern about the one and a half to two year waitlist for cataract surgeries in western Newfoundland and Labrador..
