The Glynmill Inn was the site of VOWN, or Voice of West Newfoundland, which started in 1943.
Yesterday was a special day at BayFM. Our location, the Glynmill Inn, was actually the site of the VOWN, or Voice of West Newfoundland. Two hundred guests gathered in the ballroom on July 5th, 1943 and the broadcast opened with the Ode to Newfoundland, played by the Corner Brook Militia Band. In March of 1949, VOWN adopted its present call sign of CBY, the CBC.
