Executive Director Jeff Loder says there needs to be a constant review of the system to ensure what happened this year doesn't happen again.

The head of the Association of Seafood Producers says with the help of a fair system and some DFO extensions, the past crab fishery was a success. Executive Director Jeff Loder says fishers managed to catch most of the quota, despite the disputes over pricing and concerns over trip limits. Government recently established a Fish Price-Setting Strategic Review Team. The goal is to assist with the development of a formula-based framework for fish price-setting, and other potential mechanisms, to address ongoing issues with the current price-setting process. Loder says there needs to be a constant review of the system to ensure what happened this year doesn't happen again. The strategic review team consists of three members from Fish, Food and Allied Workers, the Association of Seafood Producers, and Government.
