Government has announced financial help for those affected by evacuations on the east coast due to wildfires. In an update on the three wildfires this morning, Premier John Hogan says an additional $500 payment will be provided to each household ordered to evacuate for more than 14 days.
Cabinet Committee chair Minister Jamie Korab says there is also money for evacuees with homes that are uninhabitable and uninsured. $1,000 per household, per month, to those who can reside in private accommodations with family, friends, or community members. Up to $1,500 per household, per month, to assist with the cost of rental accommodations. Individuals must provide receipts to confirm rental accommodations.
