Work is underway to support the transformation and modernization of the K-12 school system in this province. On Friday, Education Minister Krista Lynn Howell announced details for a more modern and improved education. In September 2025, the Department of Education will introduce a new intermediate curriculum for Grades 7-9 which will give students more choice in the types of courses they choose to complete. The department is modernizing the K-12 curriculum and is implementing a digital curriculum platform this year called the eNLightenED curriculum portal. Grade 7-9 curriculum, as well as new implementations, will be available on eNLightenED next month with all K-12 curriculum being available by September 2025. The curriculum portal will be publicly available this September. New curriculum in French, social studies and mathematics will also be in place for the upcoming 2024 school year.
