A group of people gathered at the Majestic Lawn in Corner Brook yesterday afternoon to voice concerns about the new carbon tax which has added 23 percent to the price of fuel as an effort to combat climate change. Toban Chell is one of the organizers. He says the carbon tax is flawed and will only serve to burden hardworking individuals and stifle economic growth. Chell says everything we have comes here by truck and that means the cost of everything will increase. One of the attendees was Eddie Sheppard of Curling. He says enough is enough and people are tired of Ottawa talling Newfoundlanders how to manage resources. The group gathered signatures on a poster and delivered them to MP Gudie Hutchings’ office.
