Professional actor and musician Daniel Payne grew up in Cow Head, as did his love for music. He lives in Pasadena now and says while he has moved, it’s never too far away. Payne says a lot that music was never recorded anywhere but has evolved over the years. He likes traditional music especially dance tunes and unaccompanied ballads. Payne started out playing guitar, next the mandolin and fiddle. He has also mastered wind instruments like flutes and whistles, and even plays the drum. In 2002, CBC aired 4-part television mini-series, based on the book, Random Passage, and it aired on CBC Television, beginning January 27, 2002. Payne starred as Ned. He has twenty years teaching all ages at a music camp which was held at Kildevil but is now moved to central. He also offers tutorials on playing the accordion and tin whistle.
