The Port of Corner Brook is full steam ahead for their 3rd annual Community Port Day, which takes place dockside tomorrow from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Patti Ricketts is the Cruise and Engagement Coordinator and on Bayfm, she said this year will be the biggest yet. For the first time, the Canadian Coast Guard will be offering the community a chance to step aboard the CCGS Groswater Bay for a closer look. It is a SAR Lifeboat, stationed nearby in Lark Harbour.
Ricketts says there will be a dockside market with local vendors and entertainment.. She says Logistec is back this year to show everyone their cargo operations. Get up close to a forklift, reach stacker, shunt truck, and open shipping container, and see the equipment that helps move cargo through the Port every day.
Tomorrow’s Community Port Day is free to attend and Xavier House will be on hand with a fundraising BBQ. There will be facepainting and a Craft Corner the kids, as well as a chance for people to craft their own ugly stick.
