Now that Halloween has wrapped up, many are thinking about Christmas. In the Corner Brook area, it’s the opening of the Gingerbread House at the Valley Mall that kickstarts the season. It starts 11 a.m. on November 12th and this year is the 45th year for the initiative in partnership with the Salvation Army which collects gifts for children. On Bayfm this morning, Mall Manager Tammy Joyce spoke about what was left inside the Gingerbread House last year; one of the best years with over 3800 presents. Joyce says this year, a local school will be making their debut; the Grade 5 choir at C.C. Loughlin and their music teacher Monica Coffin.
Joyce talked about how many are facing difficult times and especially now with the economy and everyone wants a gift under the tree for their child
The opening of the Gingerbread House in the Valley Mall is also the start of the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign.
