By investing in sexual violence prevention, government is equipping communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to recognize, prevent and address gender-based violence. This approach is vital in breaking the cycles of violence and creating cultures of respect and understanding. Women and Gender Equality Minister Pam Parsons says governments of various levels and stakeholders are focused on this daily. She says one example is $700,000 in funding recently to create a crisis hotline in NL Parsons says funding from the National Action Plan has already resulted in substantial investments throughout the province to increase capacity, outreach and service delivery to address gender-based violence. She says this is new money to be spent over the next four years, an investment of $13.6 million over the next four years.
