Talking school violence and safety, and teacher recruitment and retention.
National presidents from teachers unions across the country are in St. John’s talking safety and violence in schools, and recruitment and retention. The 2 day meeting at the Sheraton Hotel will cover a variety of topics that are important to teachers and education. Trent Langdon is the President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association. He says, “It’s never been as important as it is right now for teacher union leaders to gather and discuss the common pressures faced by teachers across the country. Recruitment and retention challenges are being experienced from coast to coast to coast, as well as lack of resourcing in our classrooms.” Business sessions will take place tomorrow and Langdon will speak to the media during the morning.
