Street racing and dangerous driving in St. John's

    RNC say speeds clocked up to 130 km/h on city streets

    Two men are facing street racing charges after an accident in St.John’s. RNC say Wednesday at 5:30pm they received a call of a two vehicle collision on Topsail Road at the intersection of Cowan Avenue. A black sedan had collided with a blue van and both drivers were treated for injuries. RNC say the black sedan had been travelling in excess of 130 km/h on Topsail Road prior to the collision, and was believed to be engaged in a street race with a blue sedan at the time. The 51 year old driver of the black sedan  was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and issued a ticket for racing on a highway. The male driver of the blue sedan was also issued a ticket for racing. Meanwhile, St. John’s RNC have also charged a 25 year old woman and a 21 year old man with dangerous driving after a collision on April 4th. Police say their speeds along Kenmount Road at the time were between 120 and 130 km/hr.
