The girl ran away safely but does have a black belt in Taekwondo
It’s a scary world out there and unfortunately, we need to teach our children about stranger danger. Terri-Lynn Lavers of Corner Brook says her little girl was recently asked to go home and have drinks by a strange man. She says it happened Wednesday very close to the C.C.Loughlin Elementary school playground near the old Valley Road store. Lavers says her daughter has been walking to and from school by herself for a little while, most days with her brother but even on the weekends, she does walk to the playground and it’s never been an issue. Lavers says last week, when the man approached her, he was staggering, and her daughter was able to see which way he walked. The little girl's brother found her near Coleman’s on Caribou Road and when Lavers got there, the girl gave a really good description of the man. She contacted the RNC but haven't heard anything from them. She says her daughter knew it was an unsafe situation and that she had to get out of there. Meanwhile, the suspect is probably lucky he didn’t try to touch her….the ten year old has a black belt in taekwondo.
