The team’s slogan is, the future is electric and they expect the season will start in November.

The puck dropped at the Stephenville Dome last night for anyone wanting to be part of the newly formed Stephenville Lightning hockey team. Spokesperson Colleen Costello spoke with Bayfm’s Lenny Benoit about this new venture that she’s been working on for a while now. Costello says they’re ready to roll and just waiting for the green light from HockeyNL. She says in March, she emailed the West Coast Senior Hockey league about it, and started an online survey on where the team should be and the winner was Stephenville. Costello says the team has applied to become part of the central West Senior Hockey League. She says changing the team’s name to Stephenville Lightning was the best choice. The team’s slogan is, the future is electric. Costello says they expect the season will start in November.
