Smoke from wildfires headed to the south coast and avalon areas
Environment Canada has issued a warning for some areas on the Avalon and Connaigre Peninsulas. Smoke from Nova Scotia wildfires is in the area and residents are asked to avoid it and keep windows closed. Meanwhile, Federal Ministers took time to thank responders to the wildfires that are burning in Nova Scotia. They were there to announce details of changes to the Atlantic Accord yesterday, while more than 11,000 hectares in Shelburne County burned out of control. Federal Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilksinson says government will provide whatever it is Nova Scotians need. Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan says it’s a scary situation for everyone involved. The province sent 2 waterbombers this week to help battle the blazes after a state of emergency was declared in Halifax.
