The RCMP issued a news release last week with the headline, “RCMP NL celebrates the beginning of National Indigenous History Month.” CPL Jolene Garland says, “This month is an opportunity for Canadians to learn about the unique traditions, culture and the experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people. We honour and celebrate the stories, achievements and resilience of Indigenous Peoples who have lived on this land since before recorded history, and whose presence is essential to the fabric and beauty of Canada.”
