Province's fifth water bomber is back in service after repairs, just in time for the forest fire season

    In April 2025, a contract valued at $14.8 million was awarded for the repairs. 

    The province's fifth water bomber returned to Gander on Friday, marking its official return to the firefighting fleet following repairs. It will be relocated to Labrador at the start of the forest fire season. The aircraft was damaged during a wildfire-fighting effort on the Burin Peninsula while collecting water. In April 2025, a contract valued at $14.8 million was awarded for the repairs.
