Furey says it’s a modern, well maintained base in the north which could provide training facilities.
At a news conference last week with Premier Andrew Furey and B.C. Premier David Eby, reporters asked questions concerning a plea from Quebec to help with asylum seekers. Eby says B.C. is already welcoming a significant number of refugees but will help where they can. Premier Andrew Furey says NL is happy to help as long as it comes with federal support and NL absolutes are different than B.C. on a per scale basis but we are happy to help where we can with federal support. Meanwhile, Furey also spoke of the potential the federal government has with 5 wing goose bay. He says it’s a modern, well maintained base in the north which could provide training facilities. Furey says NATO partners have asked to use the facilities. Canada’s Premiers were in Nova Scotia last week for meetings of the Council of the Federation. Ontario will host the next summer meeting of Canada’s Premiers in July of next year.
