New locum recruitment program aims to improve access to health care

    A locum bonus of $10,000 for physicians who provide more than 25 days of locum services per fiscal year is available.

    Government has launched a Locum Recruitment Program that will increase access to health care for residents. It provides opportunities for physicians to work as locums, including communities that have had recruitment challenges. A locum bonus of $10,000 for physicians who provide more than 25 days of locum services per fiscal year is available. Since April 2023, more than 145 doctors have agreed to work in the province. More information on recruitment and retention incentives for healthcare professionals interested in learning about the opportunities to work in Newfoundland and Labrador is available at workinhealthnl.ca.
