The Nature Conservancy of Canada is out with their Big Backyard Bioblitz and they’re looking for your photos. Spokesperson Andrew Holland says the NCC is asking people to take a picture in nature, register with the NCC website, and upload photos. He says this is actually a community-science effort to document as many species as possible within a specific area and time period. Last year, in NL there were over 600 observations of plants and animals shared by participants in the province. Across Canada, people uploaded over 59,000 photos.Holland says photos were mostly species and plants but they also saw things that weren't expected, like the invasive species St. John’s Wort. The Big Backyard Biloblitz runs from August 1st-5th. To register go to natureconservancy.ca
