Newfoundland and Labrador has one of the lowest lost-time injury rates in the country – at 1.2 lost-time injuries per 100 workers in 2024.
Tuesday was the National Day of Mourning, a time to remember workers who lost their lives, were injured, or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents. The Minister responsible for WorkplaceNL and Government Services, Mike Goosney, says it was quite personal as a trades employee when three co-workers didn't go home.
