Industry Minister Andrew Parsons says North Atlantic has a strong history here and the potential project remains subject to the province’s application and approval process, as well as the Environmental Assessment Process.
Government has established a 10,316 hectares Wind Hydrogen Hub Land Reserve for North Atlantic Refining Limited (NARL). Industry Minister Andrew Parsons says 4 proponents were originally granted crown lands for the purpose of setting up wind hydrogen projects, then Pattern became the fifth and this is the sixth approval to date. Parsons says these lands represent less than two per cent of the lands included in the five wind energy reserves established for existing wind hydrogen projects. He says North Atlantic has a strong history here and the potential project remains subject to the province’s application and approval process, as well as the Environmental Assessment Process. These crown lands will be held in reserve for the company for a period of 18 months or until the company makes an application to the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture for the lands required for the project.
