More help on the way for Ukrainians living here

    Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne will make an announcement this morning in St.John's.

    Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne will launch an extensive suite of supports to help Ukrainians secure long-term housing and employment in this province. It will take place in St. John’s at 11 a.m. Since the illegal invasion of the Ukraine by Russia on February 24, 2022, more than 2,700 Ukrainians have arrived here, 1600 are in permanent housing, and over 280 employers here have hired almost 600 Ukrainians. As well, more than 500 Ukrainian students have enrolled in K-12 schools and nearly 400 Ukrainians are studying English as a second language.
