Money is being invested in the mental health of paramedics and first responders. Government announced over $230,000 for a one-year dedicated peer support line to improve mental health and services. Staffed by first responders trained in the delivery of peer support, it  will be available 12 hours a day, seven days a week.  According to a survey by Newfoundland and Labrador’s Paramedic Mental Health Working Group, 78 per cent of respondents stated they would access dedicated peer support if available.
