The Chief of the Qalipu Nation is working on initiatives related to Mi’kmaq language revival. Chief Brendan Mitchell says there was a full time Mi’kmaq language person on staff who is now on medical leave. He says they’re still able to continue online. Brendan Mitchell is also an interim Regional Chief with the Assembly of First Nations, which is meeting this summer in Halifax.
