Dr. Julie Sircom will be at the Blow me down garden plot on Lundrigan Drive tomorrow starting at 2 p.m. if anyone would like to find out more about beekeeping.
There’s quite a buzz happening at the Blow me Down community garden plot in Corner Brook. The Western Environment Centre has allowed Dr. Julie Sircom to keep a couple of bee hives there. The professor has been working with bees for the past 6 years and is part of a Grenfell group of beekeepers, but she wanted to have a space of her own. Dr. Sircom says she started last summer with 3 baby hives and while one didn’t make it through the winter, the other two are thriving. The best way to learn beekeeping is by doing. Dr. Sircom says you will need to find a mentor. Dr. Sircom will be at the Blow me down garden plot on Lundrigan Drive tomorrow starting at 2 p.m. if anyone would like to find out more about beekeeping.
